If you’ve ever thought about trying yoga but felt unsure — you’re not alone.
Many people hesitate because they think they’ll be judged, or they’re not flexible enough, or they don’t know what to do.
Forget all that.
Here are 8 steps on how to start practicing yoga. 🌿

No one is judging you.
Yoga studios are some of the most accepting spaces you’ll ever walk into. Everyone comes for their own reasons — to heal, to move, to breathe. No one is watching or judging you. Everyone is focused on their own journey.
Most classes welcome beginners.
Don’t worry if you’ve never done yoga before. Teachers usually offer modifications for every level. You’ll always have options — whether it’s taking a gentler version of a pose or simply resting when you need to. You belong there, exactly as you are.
The teacher matters.
Every yoga teacher brings a different energy. If one class doesn’t feel right, don’t give up — try another. Sometimes, the right teacher makes yoga feel completely different. Trust that you’ll find the one who speaks your language, both in movement and in spirit.
Let your yoga teacher know it’s your first time.
Before class begins, let your teacher know you’re just starting with yoga. They’ll keep an eye on you, guide you through adjustments, and make sure you feel supported. Yoga teachers genuinely love beginners — it’s where transformation begins.
Go with a friend.
If you have a friend who already practices, join them for a class. They won’t judge you — they’ll be proud of you for trying. Sometimes that familiar face beside you is all the courage you need to walk through the door.
Start where you feel comfortable.
If your gym or community center offers yoga, begin there. Familiar spaces can help you feel more relaxed and confident before exploring new studios. Comfort creates consistency — and consistency is what builds growth.
Give yourself time.
The first few classes might feel awkward, but they’ll get easier. Your body remembers — it learns, softens, and grows stronger each time. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll feel the difference. Yoga becomes something your body craves — not something you “have to” do.
Try an online class first.
If walking into a studio feels like too much when you just looking to start doing yoga - start online. I offer short 20-minute classes — gentle flows that include movement, breathing, and a brief meditation. It’s a peaceful way to begin, right from home.
There is only one requirement for becoming a yogi which is to show up.
You don’t have to be flexible. You don’t have to know the poses.
You just have to start.
See you on the mat! ✨
